Designing access to policymakers

MEMBERSHIP

We provide a setting, under a principle of neutrality, where members can speak directly with those who shape policy.

POLICY SESSION

Designing access to policymakers

A period of institutional change, with Japan's five-year startup development plan under way.
We invite serving Diet members, officials and regulatory specialists as guests, giving members a setting in which to speak directly with those who shape policy.

WHY NOW

Why now

With METI, the Digital Agency and the Cabinet Office all in a period of rule-making, the chance to take part before the framework is fixed will shape what follows.
Local governments are already LSS members.
This adds contact with the side that makes policy.

FOR MEMBERS

What it means for member companies

Access to developments in the regulatory sandbox and special zone applications.
Early access to first-hand information on grants and subsidies.
A constructive channel for proposals on IPO rules and tax incentives.
Example themes: expanding CVC tax incentives, easing rules for highly skilled foreign professionals.

3 LAYERS

Three layers of concrete activity

下の3ステップで、対話から提言、公開までを続けて行います。

NEUTRALITY

LSS's principle of neutrality

Guests are invited by theme, and politicians and officials appear as invited guests without membership.
Themes are confined to startups, digital and deregulation.
We run this on a cross-party basis, inviting multiple parties on the same theme, and we neither endorse any party nor give or receive political funds.

Policy Session

We invite serving Diet members from across parties and other experts to LSS-All Hands to speak directly with members.

Policy proposal reports

We identify regulatory obstacles from members' business challenges and publish them as reports.

Open session format

Sessions are run on the basis that they are recorded and published, ensuring transparency.
